Biography
Mr. CHAU Kwok-leung was born in 1959 and studied in Form 1 in Fung Kai No.2 Secondary School in 1971. After Form 5 graduation, he continued to study in Form 6 in Fung Kai No.1 Secondary School. Due to financial difficulties, he dropped out in 1977.
He then joined the Hong Kong Police Force as a Police Constable in 1978 and was appointed as Deputy Commissioner (Management) in May 2015.
In his 39 years of police service, he had not only held various positions in uniformed and crime detective units, but also taken charge of training work at the headquarters of the Police Tactical Unit. He was also dispatched to Canada, England, Australia and some Asian countries for professional trainings and exchanges.
He opines that in a rapidly changing society, people should engage in lifelong learning and keep pace with the times. As such, he continued his studies after graduation and obtained Diploma in Management and awarded degrees of BA in Public Administration and Policy as well as Master of International and Public Affairs.
As for sports, he enjoys running and had been the Chairman of the Police Athletics Club (PAC) and the Vice-President of the Hong Kong Amateur Athletic Association (HKAAA) to promote athletics.After his retirement in 2017, he devoted more time to perform volunteer work in non-governmental organizations.
In the belief that "travelling brings about far greater benefit than mere book learning", he always travels around to enrich his knowledge and broaden his horizon.
He was invited to officiate at the Fung Kai Joint Schools Speech Day in 2014. He shared his life experience with students and encouraged them to equip themselves and strive for further progress. Moreover, he admired the positive school ethos and believed in the school motto as the guiding principle in the moral and intellectual development of the students.
