“Green Innovation Competition 2026” - 3rd Prize in the Most Popular Design Award (Secondary School Category)

Members of our school's STEAM Team, 3A CHAN CHUNG HO, 3D ZHENG JUNHAN, 4A HUANG CHUN LAM, 4A ZHANG FENG YU, and 4A ZHANG ZHIHAN, participated in the Green Innovation Competition 2026, organized by the Centre for Innovation and Technology, Faculty of Engineering, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, on 11 July. The team achieved an outstanding result by winning the 3rd Prize in the Most Popular Design Award (Secondary School Category).

Project Title:

Eco-Cat Loop i-recybin Smart Recycling Bin

  

Project Description:

The Eco-Cat Loop i-recybin Smart Recycling Bin integrates AI image recognition, Raspberry Pi, and intelligent sorting technologiesto automatically identify recyclable materials such as plastic bottles, aluminium cans, and beverage cartons. The system enhances sorting accuracy and recycling efficiency through automated classification. Equipped with weight sensors, data recording functions, and a mobile app-based reward system, it encourages environmentally responsible behaviour, promotes resource recycling, and supports sustainable development.
